THE SECOND HAND ROSE

She was a poor girl she never owned anything,
they only knew her as Rose.
She wore the hand me down clothes the town gave her,
they nicknamed her second hand Rose.
She died on Tuesday they buried her Friday,
folks came from all over town.
But she didn't look at all like they thought she would,
someone had bought Rose a going home gown.

(Chorus)

The second hand Rose never looked lovelier,
dressed in her brand new robe.
Going to be with the Heavenly Father I didn't know death,
had a glow--- till I saw the second hand Rose.

His name was Jesus and He owned everything,
but for our sakes became poor.
He walked among us giving us goodness,
we gave Him thorns that he wore.
He died on Friday a place they called Calvary,
they laid Him in a cold stone tomb.
Death held in silence the sweet Rose of Sharon,
but on the third morning He once again bloomed.

(The second hand Rose never looked lovelier
dressed in His brand new robe
going to be with the Heavenly Father I didn't know death
had a glow--- till I saw the second hand Rose.)
