THIS LITTLE PRAYER

When I was just a little child and it was time for sleep.
There was something about the dark that brought me fear.
Mama dried the tear's from my eyes then we would kneel at my bedside
And oh the peace of mind I'd find in this little prayer.

Chorus
Now I lay me down to sleep,I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take.

Years seemed to fly as they went by since I left that place called home.
I went astray and oh that day I found myself alone.
Darkness brought back that same old fear then I recalled that peaceful prayer.
This time I'd find a peace of mind that I’d never leave again.

Chorus
If I die before I wake I'll be with Jesus.
For I've already prayed the Lord my soul to keep.
Since I gave the Lord my heart, I no longer fear the dark.
When it comes my time to go to sleep.
